Why Counselling Therapy?


Sometimes in life it's difficult to cope perhaps due to a sudden change or crisis, and talking with friends or family may not be helping.  Maybe childhood experiences have left you with limiting beliefs and a system of values that is incongruent with who you really are.  Perhaps you are feeling disconnected from yourself or those around you.

Through a therapeutic relationship learning to recognise and become aware of the ways of being and relating to others can free us from other peoples' expectations.  Don't let 'should', 'ought to' or 'what if' mask your own inner wisdom to discovering what is best for you and living a life of happiness and fulfilment.

I'm a Registered Member of the BACP offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental counselling service promoting freedom of choice.  I work from a Person-Centred perspective which essentially means that I believe in the individual’s ability to grow and develop in the way that is best for them. I place great importance and emphasis on the relationship between the Client and the Counsellor. 

Some people come for counselling on a short term basis, others for longer; there is no expected time frame.  I offer counselling to adults (16+) on a long term open ended basis or for a negotiated time period. 

Some of my areas of experience include:  depression, bereavement, grief and loss, care for carers, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger, stress, low self-esteem, post traumatic stress, disordered eating, anxiety, shame.
